Palak paratha

Palak paratha

This is one of the simplest and healthy parathas that comes handy with children who refuse to take greens in their meals. Palak or spinach has a bland taste and I have found children do not enjoy much of it yet this paratha along with a little curd goes straight into their tiny tummies quiet swiftly.

I learnt this recipe at the home of a sweet sister from Kerala who is settled in Pune and has made Maharashtra her home.

Recipe

  • Wash the spinach/Palak thoroughly.
  • In a blender add these washed leaves along with a handful of garlic, sabji masala, hing, salt and chilli powder.
  • Grind the ingredients together. We might have to add water to make the ingredients grind well.
  • Take wheat flour in a big mixing vessel preferably the chakki ground wheat flour. Chapatis from chakki ground flour are softer and tastier than the store bought flour.
  • Add the paste from the grinder to the wheat flour. There will be no need to add water to make the flour dough.
  • Roll out the parathas, making triangle parathas with more layers enhances the taste.
  • Using ghee adds more flavor to parathas compared to refined oil.
  • Serve the hot yummy parathas along with curd.
