Ephesians 4:26
Be angry (at sin), yet do not sin, do not let your anger last until the sun goes down.
The scripture tells us not to let the sun set down before we settle a matter with our neighbour (our first and closest neighbour being our husband’s and children.)
With this verse in line, let’s go on to a few mysteries, mystery of how there lies a similarity in every Godly woman in Christ who is an overcomer or is seeking to be one. Just like we have heard about a remnant in the church, there also is a remnant within the remnant – ‘a remnant of woman’, who might not be known to many, her stories might not be very captivating, neither her language very flowery, she might not even have many gifts to flaunt yet when a needy soul spends even 15 minutes with her, she would immediately experience the freedom of Christ and the hope that He gives through her. She wouldn’t boast about her own victories yet would point us to the source of those victories – our Victor ‘Jesus Christ’. She isn’t an extraordinary woman, she is just a simple woman who has long back learnt to place all her hurts, burdens, desires, dreams, anything that would need a fire, upon the altar, waiting patiently for the Father to burn away that needs to be burnt and return only the sacrificed ‘Isaac’s’ back to her.
There is unmistakably, a mystery in the lives of these woman. They are
– slow to speak
– quick to hear and
– slow to anger
There is also another aspect of life that’s so evident amongst them and that is ‘she submits to her husband and she loves her children’. Out of her mouth flows blessings for her household. Blessings and never curse.
She is much a living being just like us with all emotions, feelings, desires, dreams and all physical limitations like any other woman. She would occasionally have some disagreements with her husband. She would definitely have plenty of moments in a day when her growing child would behave in rebellion or foolishness. She would face the same traffic any other person faces and be cheated by shopkeepers or any other person she deals with. She has just the same neighbors like you and me and just the same number of hours in a day to finish all her piles of household work. Her children fall sick with the same viruses that affects every other child, inflation hits her home too, yet…..
She chooses not to dwell in self pity or grudge. She prays for the best of her neighbor. She might get hurt yet she doesn’t allow the hurt to become bitter, her dreams don’t go gloomy, she knows how to take it to the Lord. It’s tough for her too, yet she persists till the end. She would rather fight and fight and fight the thought of anger, bitterness, coldness, selfishness in her heart, take it to the Lord, reason with Him at times and cry over her sins in secret, maybe with tears rather than yielding to the sin and embracing it and becoming one with it.
Her mystery is the ‘war within’ she battles day in and out, day and night, pouring out herself to the Lord, “take away my hurt Father”, ” give me courage to delete the hard message I have typed before I could send it”, “help me to love my husband unconditionally”, “help me to love my children”, “I cannot with my strength, yet You can help me”. It might at times take a sleepless night to overcome, yet by the dawn, her bossom would have received enough grace to forgive, endure, forget and love.
It’s a surprise that we would rather trust God with our health and finances and promotions yet may never ever trust Him enough to help us be overcomers in our battles.
Why should we be defeated again and again? Why should we be a lone wanderer? Let’s seek to break free from the bondages we are living with. Let’s be honest and fight the good fight. Let’s be free – in Christ.
Jesus replied, ” I am the Bread of Life, the one who come to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me ( as a Saviour) will never be thirsty ( for that one will be sustained spiritually) John 6:35
Dear Father, we come before You with all our aches, hurts, fears, burdens, and desires. Deliver us and make us free IN Christ that we may be free indeed!!!
