There is something that thrills me about the 9th Chapter of John’s Gospel. Here we read about a beggar, born blind who was healed by Jesus. Generally, healing is never given an entire chapter in the Bible. Yes, Chapters are man- made in order to aid us in reading..still…..!!
I was surprised and it thrills me.
Jesus says in the 39th verse..
Then Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment [to separate those who believe in Me from those who reject Me—to declare judgment on those who choose to be separated from God], so that the sightless would see, and those who see would become blind.”
When the world becomes dim and Jesus bright – ‘glowing’ It’s then you are really able to see. If not you are Blind.
Jesus probably healed thousands during His 33 and 1/2 year ministry, and a very few are quoted in the Scriptures. This incident does stand out.
Look at how the blind man stands for Jesus. He ‘all alone’, even forsaken by his ‘people – pleasing parents’…. stands so boldly for Jesus.
This verse has always touched me a lot…..
…………but one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
He almost preaches to the Pharisees. Such boldness, such courage to stand for Jesus. Something that was not seen in Nicodemus, not even Peter before the resurrection of Jesus. This blind beggar was willing to give up everything for Jesus. As a result, he was even thrown out of the Synagogue.
Now remember dear friends..!!! when you follow Jesus and trust Him, He will NEVER leave you alone..!!
Jesus heard that they had put him out [of the synagogue], and finding him, He asked,
“Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
WOW..!! Jesus offers him the good news….! I believe, this is the only incident mentioned in the Scriptures wherein Jesus leads a person to Eternal life ‘after’ healing the person. This man immediately believes and worships Jesus. Truly this blind man must have become a great disciple of Jesus in the coming days….!!
